Nothing better than making particular enclosures for particular objects!! The Platonic ideal of Box. I never got well-lit footage of it but the inner lining in the slipcases is this brilliant emerald green paper lightning-shot with gold.

I also never did find an ID on the drop caps, because they aren’t in any of my type catalogs and I’m notoriously bad at googling. Sorry, the screen is so boring and I give up very quickly. Let me know if these deco-looking Celtic knot reduxes are familiar to you.

Reprinted these a bit ago and am simply very behind on editing wip recordings lately. anyway! there’s a 9x12 version with text on it about “Everybody’s leg hair is cute including Mine”; i printed more of these 4.75x10.75 on reprinting partly because of paper efficiency but honestly also because it’s been a few years since i conceived of this print and back then i was only on the beginning of my No Shaving journey. by now i do not need the words so much anymore, and simply like the look of my legs, which are cute & cool just like everyone’s unshaved legs are.

Going to be @mtbakersummerfestival this Sunday the 23rd, 10-5, at Hunter Blvd Park! There will be many art vendors, live music, food, kids' activities, etc. I'm taking stock this week and I've got a list of prep tasks which includes:

• reprints of LEG HAIR, a summer inventory necessity :))
• stocking up on mini reloadable journals; do I NEED to go to the fabric store for new patterns, no, will I anyway, yes yes of course
• 🤞 think of me kindly and I may even get a new postcard about CAT RUDENESS finished in time. No promises but I will do my best :)

Atomic Frontier is making short science documentaries on YouTube and asked if I could put together a small printing project that put the channel name in handset type, with every letter a different face—I said yes of COURSE this a typography crime I will aid & abet, thank you. I do not know when the final video concerning typography will be finished but my personal favorite currently available is “Why typing sucks now” for perhaps obvious reasons and you should check it out to scratch that language & science itch!!

I finished a couple new things just in time for this weekend—some perforated journals and a new mini illustration with handset type. Can’t believe that can of neon red ink is still lively but it’s powerful stuff.

I made an item for the Craftalong this year that has several pieces of my heart & soul but NOT my blood because I put a bandaid right on that :) It is a full 78-card Tarot deck printed from handset type and linoleum blocks, where the meaning of each card is encapsulated on its face with a quote from the game Disco Elysium, and it will be up for giveaway sometime between 6 am & 12 pm on Monday the 13th 📣

Can you tell I love card decks :) LOVE em. Designing a card deck for letterpress is so silly and I find such joy in it. I have also been searching for a compelling framework for a Tarot deck for a while, and the writing in Disco Elysium makes my brain fizz like pop rocks, and, here, the Craftalong puts purpose to even the most Roomba-like associative impulses to create.

Handset in Garamond, some Eden Bold, and a little sneaky Neuland. As a one of a kind object, putting color in each actor’s name was most efficiently done by printing all text in white and selectively applying bronzing powder to it. Printing went quite smoothly really! I have enough type to set about one suit at a time (14 cards), which is about all I could print before the opaque white ink starts to get tacky, and the drop & replace formes for exchanging each face’s excerpt registered well. I think I’m getting pretty good at planning one of these things. Or I’m getting complace—nah, there’s 78 cards in here, I’m fine.

Projects like this really make me notice how absurdly small the photos on Instagram are :/ anyway if you’re interested in a better look at it, or the full text of the cards, message me and I can direct you to images hosted elsewhere 😝

Exposure Therapy no. 1: Did this lino block on Stonehenge instead of notecards this time! Fits quite nicely in a 5x7. They’re up in our store either pre-mounted or framed. I should put one on my bedside table, it’ll be better than coffee to catapult me out of drowsiness every morning.
