Personally I can’t currently see the prospect of cleaning our work tables with a telescope but I promise you all it will be done by then—my scraps and remnants will be stuffed in the closet and instead you’ll see beautiful displays by other local artists of many mediums:

WHAT a cool weekend at Wayzgoose 2024 @hamiltonwoodtype 💚💜 It was my first time attending and literally everyone I met was so welcoming, so kind, so interesting & interested in other people’s work and experiences, so excited to teach & learn & exchange knowledge. I didn’t take any GOOD pictures there, sorry, I just sort of swung my phone around wildly to show my parents & friends at home how cool the museum is and how much stuff is happening there, but here is only a sample of all the rad printed matter I got to bring home ✨

Thank you to @pipletterpress & LEAD for the opportunity to speak as a Print Futures rep, and the guidance that helped me make a presentation I can be proud of! Thank you to @gabbguy & @mintliu.svg for doing it beside me & making it easy to stand up there on the stage.

Thank you to all the Wayzgoose volunteers & organizers!! It was all very bird above the waterline from where I was standing but I know it was much harder than you made it look. & thank you to every speaker who brought their process to share—I am BUZZING with ideas, too many to ever do all of them, but maybe by next year I will have done some & perhaps 🤞 will see some of you there again & we can show each other what new ideas we’ve tried

@desertbusforhope starts today! 🎉🎉 I shipped off a prize this year which will be up for silent auction starting tomorrow, Saturday the 9th, around 6 pm PST 🎉🎉

Went for a different format of card deck this time—hanafuda is a Japanese deck structure where there are no pips or values printed on the card faces, only illustrations. Classic Hanafuda decks have suits themed on flowers and plants, in 12 suits of 4 cards each. I've done a little re-design themed around Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with each of the 12 suits oriented around materials, animals, or items in the game.

each card is so small—about 1 3/8 inch by 2 1/8—and current ones are this thick chip with laminated faces and some kind of slick coated paper over the back? Anyway mine are still chunky but by being two sheets of cross-laminated 120# cover. back sides with the Sheikah Eye printed from linoleum reduction; faces with hand-drawn lineart and little linocuts for each color.

i very much like the color palate that came out of it; since the pen drawings went down before colors i printed the grey first to find the bottom end of the value range, bookended it with the yellow, and filled in the middle. my favorite color of the bunch turns out to be the soft brown, or maybe the “gold” with no metallic in it.

and if you’re asking yourself, hey, even with overage it’s only like 5 copies of each card to get one perfect deck, why not hand color the cards? i also asked this. i tried some things and unfortunately did not like the texture at all. Only 88 little lino cuts would do for my brain worms.

Always a good time to play with the @pipletterpress CMYK color stylings ✨ This particular good time was months ago, I’m very behind on offloading my wip recordings, but that’s not the point! The point is, thanks to everyone who supports Partners in Print, and thanks to PiP for supporting printing & printers!!

I’m additionally a big sucker for any color you can describe like a food. Wasabi. Lavender. Edible secondaries. PiP said be free with the design and I said great I would like to be several incompatible flavors of ice cream 💚💜 Chonks of color in wood type and just a little embellishment in lead.

Nothing better than making particular enclosures for particular objects!! The Platonic ideal of Box. I never got well-lit footage of it but the inner lining in the slipcases is this brilliant emerald green paper lightning-shot with gold.

I also never did find an ID on the drop caps, because they aren’t in any of my type catalogs and I’m notoriously bad at googling. Sorry, the screen is so boring and I give up very quickly. Let me know if these deco-looking Celtic knot reduxes are familiar to you.

Reprinted these a bit ago and am simply very behind on editing wip recordings lately. anyway! there’s a 9x12 version with text on it about “Everybody’s leg hair is cute including Mine”; i printed more of these 4.75x10.75 on reprinting partly because of paper efficiency but honestly also because it’s been a few years since i conceived of this print and back then i was only on the beginning of my No Shaving journey. by now i do not need the words so much anymore, and simply like the look of my legs, which are cute & cool just like everyone’s unshaved legs are.

Going to be @mtbakersummerfestival this Sunday the 23rd, 10-5, at Hunter Blvd Park! There will be many art vendors, live music, food, kids' activities, etc. I'm taking stock this week and I've got a list of prep tasks which includes:

• reprints of LEG HAIR, a summer inventory necessity :))
• stocking up on mini reloadable journals; do I NEED to go to the fabric store for new patterns, no, will I anyway, yes yes of course
• 🤞 think of me kindly and I may even get a new postcard about CAT RUDENESS finished in time. No promises but I will do my best :)

Atomic Frontier is making short science documentaries on YouTube and asked if I could put together a small printing project that put the channel name in handset type, with every letter a different face—I said yes of COURSE this a typography crime I will aid & abet, thank you. I do not know when the final video concerning typography will be finished but my personal favorite currently available is “Why typing sucks now” for perhaps obvious reasons and you should check it out to scratch that language & science itch!!

Generous and forgiving friend let me take reference photos for this while she was just trying to live her life and get her dog medicated 💛🖤 It is basically a companion to the Something About the Way I Hold My Teeth print, sort of the nega-verse version. Posi-verse version??
