November Open House & Art Market

Our annual November sale approaches! As do several other art sales and events in the area—some repeat favorites, some new, all of which we are very excited to do and will thankfully get us out of the house. Come see us at any of them!! One, some, all—

November 2nd-4th: the Pickering Barn Craft Show at the restored 1800s barn in Issaquah, 1730 10th Ave NW. Open Thursday and Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-5.

Saturday, November 18th: Backyard Holiday Market at Gretchen Siegrist Clay’s beautiful studio! Handmade goods: ceramics, prints, jewelry, embroidery, fiber arts, and more; and gathering winter supplies for our unhoused neighbors: bring anything you can of tents, sleeping bags, warm coats & pants, hats & gloves, tarps, hand & foot warmers, etc.

Sunday, November 19th: So happy to be back at the Tacoma Is For Lovers fair at King’s Books, 11-4! (We will only be there Sunday but they’re also open 11-4 on Saturday the 18th, with different artists!)

Saturday, December 9th, 6-9, AND Sunday the 10th, 2-5: Delighted to head just down the hill again to The Grocery Studios for their Holiday pop-up.

Come support local artists! See what we have, and more than once—we pack different things for different spaces, so maybe you’ll see something surprising the second time.

November Art Market, 12-6, Saturday the 20th!

November 20th, 12-6 pm, at 3320 Beacon Ave South. Pop-up art market at Day Moon Press of local vendors, bringing prints, paintings, jewelry, body products, book arts, hot drinks, and more!

Hello all! What year is it. How long has it been. Anyway, we used to do a yearly holiday sale in our shop, and we’re ready to bring that back but a little different this time:

With the South End Public Market arm of Beacon Arts we’re putting on a pop-up market of local artists, selling prints, sculpture, jewelry, body products, paintings, book arts, and more! SEPM is putting on monthly art markets around Beacon Hill, so keep up with them for future events, and applications for vending opportunities. On November 20th, come to our shop to support South End artists, and grab a hot drink and snack in the backyard to fundraise for Beacon Arts!

Masks required inside the shop, please, vaccinated or unvaccinated.

December Art Events

Oh, boy, we’re BUSY the next few weeks—

Saturday, December 7th! We’re tabling at the Arts & Crafts Fair of the Mt. Baker Home Tour — tickets for the home tour are a major fundraiser for the Mt. Baker Community Center, although the art fair in the Clubhouse is completely free to attend & peruse! (10 am to 4 pm)

Friday, December 13th! The School of Visual Concepts is having a FREE talk & poetry reading by their current artist-in-residence, Claudia Castro Luna—she’ll be discussing her letterpress printed artist’s book One River, a Thousand Voices:

(12 pm – 4 pm)

Woof! Listen, if you can’t keep track of all that, same. Just wander around the city the next two weeks, you’ll probably trip over us eventually.

Winter Sale 2019

This year we’re doing our annual open house/winter sale on Small Business Saturday, November 30th! The Saturday after Thanksgiving we’ll be open 9-6 with letterpress printed goods: cards & journals, a board game, a card deck, an advent calendar, artists’ books; as well as watercolor paintings and digital prints; also, free cookies & wassail.

As always the retail half of the building will be filled with art objects made by us, and by True Bug Press, Notta Pixie Press, Waterland Press, and our studio-mate Darius X Studio. In the back half we’ll be working on a small print object all day, mockup to typesetting to printing! Come observe & look at art & get some holiday shopping done at, literally, the only store where most of these things are sold.

Paper Trails 2019

Paper Trails 2019, October 19

Heads up, we’re going to be away from our Beacon Hill shop for several Saturdays in the next few months—we’ll be at other peoples’ very cool events instead! The first is part of Tacoma Arts Month: Paper Trails is an annual sale of book arts and paper arts-related merchandise by local book, paper and letterpress artists.

At King’s Books in Tacoma, on Saturday, October 19th, from 11-5, there’ll be vendors (including us!) selling all kinds of paper arts & crafts, doing demos, and running make-and-take projects! FREE admission, come see & chat!

“We Be Proud” @PCAF, Tacoma

Framed large pride flag

Finally got the big one framed! Until July 31st, it and the five mini-flags are at a Pride-themed show “We Be Proud” in Tacoma at PCAF, along with prints by Cat Snapp Studio and Pope Press Olympia.

Pierce County AIDS Foundation, through education and service, prevents HIV infection, assists persons affected by HIV/AIDS, addresses related health problems, and combats associated stigma and discrimination. PCAF’s gallery is open M/T/Th/F 9-5 and Wed 11-5.

Mini pride flags

(Unfortunately this is my last copy of the big one so it’s not for sale, but the minis are! I also scan the minis as I complete them and put them here on the Pride Flag Prints project page. Feel free to save them to your phone or computer for icons, banners, etc.—the bi flag has been my phone background for months now. Personal use only, please!)

Tacoma Wayzgoose 2019

We will be manning a table at the Tacoma Wayzgoose this year! April 27 & 28, 11 am – 4 pm, there will be steamroller printing, t-shirt screenprinting, and various letterpress and book arts activities from many of the vendors! See printers’ goods, talk to them about their work, get your own hands on a little paper-product keepsake.

Check the Tacoma Wayzgoose website and/or follow their Facebook page/Instagram (@tacomawayzgoose) for updates about vendors, activities, and schedules.

(All two of us will be going, so the shop will be closed on Saturday the 27 as well as our usual Sunday off.)
