Some of me is freed from tension having finished t Some of me is freed from tension having finished this one. I have been turning images like this over and over and trying to suss out what they mean and then, at the dinner table, @klepsydra.art said nearly these exact words for completely unrelated & normal reasons and I did a jerkwad Artiste behavior of scrambling for a piece of paper and writing it down in the middle of the conversation. I’m genuinely sorry, sometimes I am a stereotype of my profession and my mind is not present with you when we talk. It is somewhere else thinking about mammalian bite strength.

16x16 inches, cream BFK Rives. I truly felt like this was one of those Audience Of One (Who Is Me) projects when I was designing it, BUT I did make an edition of 25 (plus a couple slight misprints). Etsy or message me if u also wish to have this mood for your home :)

Vashon ferry & ferns & Garamond, cream BFK Rives—I love this paper color very much—and bronzing powder for the gold!

Never illustrated a ferry before but they’re so friendly-shaped :)

printers, technicians, engineers, experts of any f printers, technicians, engineers, experts of any flavor you like, i have a question: what is HAPPENING here? I finally had time to just throw paper into our main C&P and see what it does if i do nothing to chase the inking problem, and this is what happens with no interference, no changing tape on the rails, minimal ink, 80# Mohawk cover.

conditions:
• 12x18 Chandler&Price
• magnesium plate on honeycomb base
• centered in the bed
• single hit, pretty dry, ignore the ghosting
• each number on the sheet is the impression number. i did 350, which was enough to watch it travel up the bed and loop back around to the bottom again
• freshly re-covered rollers, just a couple months old
• fresh tape on the rails, yes of course i gauged
• printed in the afternoon, towards 80 degrees but not in direct sunlight
• ive been reliably informed it shouldn't be an issue with the spring tension in the arms
• the green printing is on one set of roller cores; the blue is on a second set of cores (also freshly re-covered). the blue run stayed acceptable for longer, but was starting to acquire the wildly dry stripes by around 200 impressions.
• i changed out the sets of rollers but used the same trucks.
• it's harder to see but whenever there's stripes where the rollers are too high, there's also other areas where they're too low. the leftovers are Just Right 🙃
• i chased the stripe with the gauge once and the place where the rollers were high (at that moment) was a difference of up to 15 points

is this what happens when the trucks get worn elliptical? that's all that i can think of that would move around. i'm using steel ones, not expandable, and i rolled them across the stone and couldn't detect any weird wobbling. is there a better way to test the trucks?

could it be the saddle? 1 out of the 4 hooks in the saddle is noticeably wider-than-circular inside the hooks, and that core does shift inside the hook when it transfers from the ink plate to the rails. i don't understand how this could be the cause but it does happen.

at the worst, all three rollers get completely out of contact with the plate in the same place. it moves around. ??¿? does this look familiar to anybody?

I’ve been running low on some retail inventory b I’ve been running low on some retail inventory but I do not like to do the same thing twice so I’ve made some changes to these window cards ☀️🌧️

I do have the second color for the paned window but changed it out for a masked-off old floral plate; the blue is not actually meant to be a window but a little slanted rain is all it needs. I’ve got these color panels in our 1925 BB&S catalog but the pinmarks on our copies are ATF so they’re from sometime post-purchase.

had a GREAT time this weekend delivering this broa had a GREAT time this weekend delivering this broadside to the 2023 edition of #wordsofcourage — so nice to talk about this project & work processes with a community of printers, and see the excellent printing everyone does with the poetry. every year with WoC @pipletterpress produces a portfolio of letterpress broadsides, poetry by pediatric patients and designs done by local printers—more info at ✨ wordsofcourage.org ✨ including scans from previous years' portfolios, and in a few weeks the whole set from this year will be up there!

i had immediate design Thoughts when i read this poem—the secret world of strange creatures & powers!! 1930s illustrated fairy tales; hefty border and one (1) spot color; Beardsley's "Le Morte D'Arthur," John Austen's "Hamlet"—very happy to have gotten a chance to work with it at poetry distribution. I just wanted to make their story as cool and dramatic as it could be, like an excerpt of a larger work, part of an Artifact.

title set in Devinne, body set in Goudy; both of those cases are pretty worn but that's not necessarily bad in this instance and also i needed a pretty full case to get the body done in one go. carving was a chunk of time but a kind that i like! i left the spellcaster's clothes for last because i knew that would be the most fun part :))

Ok those aren’t huckleberries BUT—loved the enforced irregularity in the berries. The original drawing provided was a very sweet, rough-edged watercolor style.

Now if you have an inkling of when this is due you may be thinking, Tess. Are you a little behind schedule. But I assure you all that in any given week I have multiple remote Bad Movie Dates with friends and they are all accustomed to having less than 100% of my attention and neither of my eyes.

Greco Adornado was the way to go on this one but i Greco Adornado was the way to go on this one but it needed some kind of large, embellished cap to take up enough space on the sheet—the large canvas is so that all the guests could sign on their attendance. Hopefully I’ve retained respect to the face with this block! & Melior for the rest. I looked for a serif more contemporaneous but something about the round & square & friendly of Melior kept swaying me.

Had a great time helping put this together in a sm Had a great time helping put this together in a small two-person workshop the other day! An anniversary activity & keepsake in one. 3 hours was kind of pushing it to get it all done when we were having fun 😆 but I save a lot of inks just in case I find a use for them and here!! A lovely mango yellow-orange was nearly ready to go right out of the pot.

Set in Melior.
